Avenue 66 at SR-111 & UPRR Grade Separation Project

Agency: County of Riverside Transportation Department

Location: Mecca, CA

Project Size: $38M

Estimated Completion: Completed

The Avenue 66 Grade Separation project has been in the works for more than a decade. As trucking and train traffic in the regional freight corridor increases, and the community continues to grow, a safe and reliable access point in and out of Mecca is critical. This new, 800-foot long bridge will cross Hammond Street, the Union Pacific Railroad and Highway 111, to safely connect cyclists, pedestrians and vehicles from Mecca to Avenue 66 and Highway 111. The project will also help reduce travel delays and congestion at the 4th Street at-grade crossing.
