Magnolia Avenue Underpass
Magnolia Avenue Underpass at Union Pacific Railroad
This public works project in the City of Riverside is for construction of the Magnolia Avenue underpass at Union Pacific Railroad’s tracks south of Jurupa Avenue. Once complete, traffic will be allowed to flow unimpeded by crossing trains. Major items of work generally consist of the following; double track steel girder bridge, retaining walls, a new storm drain pump station, realignment and improvements of Magnolia Avenue including modifications and widening on Beatty Drive, Merrill Avenue, and Nogales Street.
Riverside Construction began work on this job in February 2010 and the project is anticipated to be completed during the third quarter of 2011. As of August 2010, improvements on Beatty Avenue are substantially complete, the temporary railroad shoofly track is in service, and construction of the bridge is underway.

Mission Boulevard Grade Seperation
This Project is a City of Pomona Capital Improvement Project which will remove the existing at-grade intersection of Mission Blvd. and SR 71. When complete, the project will alleviate congestion and improve traffic mobility. Riverside Construction Company, Inc. started this Project in the Summer of 2008 and with various utility, right-of-way and design complications, the project is scheduled for a December 2011 completion. The major highlights of this project are the construction of a multi-staged detour, a precast girder bridge, three large precast concrete faced MSE Walls, and a cast-in place sewer.
As of October 2010, all of the underground work has been completed and traffic has been switched to a detour. The temporary shoring has been constructed, allowing for the placement of the abutment fill and the construction of the MSE Walls. The next few months will be hectic as the construction of the abutments, bents and wing walls are anticipated to be completed by year end. It took a while, but the ball is finally rolling for this project.
